The Oxjam Shoreditch team are thrilled to announce a one-night-only East London sound clash:-the Mr C and Normski (back2back) Loft Party, due to bring down the roof of an intimate East London loft space on Friday 19th September 2014!
Oxjam Shoreditch is proud to present the long overdue pairing of two legends of dance music who have had their roots firmly planted in the London club scene since the early nineties; Mr C and Normski are both iconic names guaranteed to bring a raucous and unforgettable rave-up to Studio Spaces E2, Kingsland Road next weekend, with the combined music knowledge and record collection to rip the proverbial rule book to shreds.
Capacity is limited to keep the intimate loft party vibe and tickets are just £10.00 with all proceeds going to Oxfam.
All DJs are generously donating their time and energy to the party in the name of Oxfam and Studio Spaces E2 have also kindly offered to donate 10% of the night’s bar spend to the cause.
This event is a fundraising warm up for the Oxjam Shoreditch Takeover festival which returns for the third time to the streets of EC1 on Sunday the 19th October 2014. More information to come on this exciting festival very, very soon.
Richard West aka Mr.C was born in London in the late 60′s and started MCing in London clubs aged only 16. In his time on the scene he has organized, promoted & been resident DJ at a number of renowned parties including Flavour at The End (95 & 96), Subterrain at The End (95 – 2002), Superfreq (Worldwide 2002 – Present) & Super Disco Freq (LA 2010 – present). Mr.C is best known as front man of the pop group The Shamen with whom he notched up a string of top 10 hits including Move Any Mountain & the UK number 1 smash hit Ebeneezer Goode. The Shamen also won a highly coveted Ivor Novelo for Songwriters of the year UK in 1992. Richard is currently recording solo as Mr.C & is also doing collaborations as the Sycophant Slags with Francis Harris aka Adultnapper amongst many more. He also has recent releases on Poker Flat, Wagon Repair Records, Get Physical Records & Adjunct Audio as well as his own Superfreq imprint. Superfreq is currently one of London’s most renowned parties and has a loyal following from London and beyond.
Mr C is joined by no other than prolific musician Normski. Entrenched in the music scene since the 80’s, Normski has had the opportunity to play for many high quality clubs and underground venues like Ministry of Sound, Area, Egg Club, Fabric, The Cross(RiP) Pacha London, Hidden, SW1, Electrowerkz, Traffic Ibiza, The Book Club, CAMP, 333, Jamm , The Wellington, Cafe De Paris, Lovebox, Glastonbury, Bestival, Bangface weekender, Herbal, Bar Vinyl,The End, and many worldwide as far as Japan to Mauritius through Europe and back. Clubbing veterans may remember Normski from his Dance Energy TV shows back in the 80’s 90’s, a BBC2 series dedicated to dance, rap, and hip hop music and showcasing artists such as SL2 and Inner City. Normski also has a weekly radio show on Hoxton Radio each Friday from 3.00pm – 5.00pm www.hoxtonradio.com
Supporting Mr C & Normski is DJ and producer Ben Gomori; A former resident at legendary London venues including Turnmills, The Key, The Cross, Egg and Pacha, he’s also played for the likes of Creamfields, Secret Garden Party, Sziget Festival, Snowbombing and GlobalGathering. Accolades include Annie Mac making his Jai Paul ‘Jasmine’ edit her Foundcloud Track Of The Week on BBC Radio 1, the Guardian Music blog naming his Dan Croll remix as their track of the month for the Music Alliance Pact , and Mixmag feautring him in their Keep An Eye On Section. Remixes for the likes of X-Press 2, Kris Menace & Chelonis R. Jones, Public Service Broadcasting and Nick Mulvey have shown his love of reworking, as have his hugely popular edits of the likes of LL Cool J and Bobby Brown.
