Rihanna and boyfriend A$AP Rocky have welcomed their first child together! According to multuiple sources, the Bajan artist and entrepreneur gave birth to a baby boy on Friday, 13th May in LA. Neither Rihanna nor A$AP Rocky has publicly shared any details of the birth; the baby’s name is yet to be confirmed.
It was first revealed that the couple was expecting their first child back in January with a social media post shared by street-style photographer Miles Diggs. A couple of days later, Rihanna made a post of her own, celebrating Black History Month with her baby bump.
The two musicians have known each other for at least a decade now, having collaborated on a track together – “Cockiness (Love It)” – in 2012. The following year, Rihanna brought Rocky along on her “Diamonds World Tour,” and starred as the rapper’s muse and love interest in his hit song “Fashion Killa”.
The pair have been linked romantically since December 2020. In May 2021, it was finally confirmed that the two were dating in an interview Rocky did with GQ, where he described Rihanna as the “love of [his] life.”
While it seems many celebrities tend to hide or shield their baby bumps, Rihanna fully embraced her growing belly as she continued to wear her edgy crop tops and high heels throughout her pregnancy. Over the past few months, the 34-year-old has been seen in some of her most fashion-forward outfits, rocking looks by Off-White, The Attico, Stella McCartney, Valentino and more.
In the past, the singer-turned-fashion designer has been vocal about her desire to become a mother. In a June 2019 conversation with Sarah Paulson for Interview, when asked if she wanted to be a mother, Rihanna replied, “More than anything in life.”
A$AP Rocky has also previously shared his feelings about becoming a father. “If that’s in my destiny, absolutely… I think I’d be an incredible, remarkably, overall amazing dad. I would have a very fly child. Very,” shared the Harlem-bred rapper when asked if he would have children during an interview with GQ in May 2021.
